2021 was a year of challenges, expansion and new opportunities.
The Edulution project is challenging enough under normal circumstances, and with a second year of the pandemic facing us, we found ourselves solving problems we could never have imagined. We nevertheless still managed to expand into South Africa as planned. We also won the backing of two very credible foundations, an independent evaluation confirmed how effective our model is, and we secured funding from the South African government’s Jobs Fund. This has the potential to be a strategic game changer. The impact of the pandemic on primary school education has been massive, the gap has grown wider and the poorer communities whom we serve are the most impacted. The need for solutions like Edulution’s ‘Catch- Up’ Programme has never been greater. By the end of 2022 we will be reaching 19,000 children in three different countries; a huge achievement but there is still a lot more work to be done. We believe that our ‘road tested’ model has the potential to be a part of a much larger solution to an increasingly desperate problem. We know that collaboration is key and welcome approaches from anyone willing to be part of the solution.
