Press Release. Lusaka, Zambia.
Education and technology leaders are invited to attend a pioneering national conference that will shape the future of digital learning in Zambia’s government schools. The EdTech & AI Indaba 2025, taking place on 27 August 2025 at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre, will convene an influential gathering of government ministers, NGO leaders, funders, and educators to drive collaborative action in education reform.
The Indaba is being held in partnership with BongoHive, Zambia’s first technology and innovation hub, which has played a critical role in building the local tech ecosystem.
The event will be officially opened by the Honourable Douglas Syakalima, Minister of Education, and Honourable Felix C. Mutati, Minister of Technology and Science, both of whom will deliver keynote opening remarks.
Attendance is free, but spaces are limited. Participants are encouraged to register early at www.edulution.org/indaba2025to secure their spot.
“This isn’t just a conference — it’s a call to action,” said Richard Akwei, Edulution’s CEO. “Zambia is poised for a digital education transformation, and this Indaba is a chance to influence, collaborate, and shape the path ahead.”
Lukonga Lindunda, Executive Director of BongoHive, added: “Artificial Intelligence is redefining how we live, learn, and work. Through our AI Lab and the 2024 State of AI in Zambia Survey, we identified education — alongside health, agriculture, and finance — as a key sector where AI is already taking root. The potential to enhance learning experiences, personalise content, and expand access to quality education is immense. This Indaba is a timely platform to turn insight into collective action.”
At a pivotal moment for Zambia’s education system, the Indaba will address how to integrate technology-driven learning solutions into government schools in a sustainable and policy-aligned way. Participants can expect a rich programme of keynote speeches, collaborative roundtables, and panel discussions, covering topics such as:
Blended Learning: Integrating non-profit programmes into formal public-sector education, and promoting innovation through dialogue and knowledge sharing
Maths Outcomes: Showcasing successful technology interventions that align with government priorities and the national education strategy
Data & Impact: Leveraging M&E for measurable learner gains, and connecting education data researchers with projects and policymakers
Content & Context Localisation: Designing digital tools aligned to Zambia’s curriculum and responsive to rural learning environments
Sustainable Finance: Exploring viable models for scaling EdTech and AI in the non-profit and government sectors, and attracting investment in Zambia’s tech landscape
“We encourage all with interest in the EdTech and/or AI space to attend this landmark event,” added Muule Moonga, Edulution Zambia Country Head. “Whether you’re an NGO professional, government employee, philanthropist, funder, EdTech practitioner, tech executive, educator, researcher, or school faculty member – there is a valued space for you. Collaboration and diversified approaches to education and tech reform are how Zambia will create an equitable, tech-enabled learning ecosystem for all children.”
